How can the 2020s be progressive?
I was committed to write a paper for the recent Progressive Governance Summit that brought together leaders like Justin Trudeau, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Olaf Scholz, Margrethe Vestager and several thousand activists, thinkers, mayors, councillors and parliamentarians. The topic was how the 2020s could be a progressive decade. I set out some of the tasks; the broader challenge of imagination (on which I am now finishing a book, building on my work last year with Untitled and Demos Helsinki); the policy priorities; as well as questions of style and culture. I'm sure everyone will find something to disagree with - but hopefully it's framing will be useful. There's also a youtube of the opening session where some of the ideas are set out.
